Year 3
Last week, our Year 3 classes visited Lathcoats Farm in Galleywood, Essex. This fourth-generation family farm grows over 40 varieties of English apples and lots of summer fruits to pick.
The trip was organised by The Country Trust, a charity helping children explore where food comes from, understand healthy eating, and learn about caring for the planet.
During the visit, the children:
- Met the farmer and learned how apples are grown
- Tasted fresh apple juice and apple cake baked on-site
- Picked their own apples in the orchard
- Saw how apples are sized and sorted before being sold
- Visited the goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, and alpacas
The Master Draper also joined the visit and was inspired by The Country Trust’s work.
